About

Hello & Welcome!

I am

David Chappell,

an

Artist & Illustrator

located in St. Louis, Missouri.

As a creative, I can help you with projects that require an artist’s vision to bring ideas to life.  I have a talent for and proven history of creating illustrations that capture, encompass and bring creative detail to concepts, big and small.  I love diving into the process that brings mere visions to reality: brainstorming and idea generation, in-depth research (to uncover the essential details that inform a concept) and the melding of all of this in creating effective images that bring concrete life to what were once just abstract concepts.

My History Includes:

  • I’ve been an illustrator for ‘Ideation Meetings’ at Purina in St. Louis.
  • I created a line of greeting cards under the trademarked name of Dogtown Hydrations that have been carried at the St. Louis Zoo Gift Shop and other stores in St. Louis.
  • I interned as an illustrator at Pale Night Productions, a haunted house production company in St. Louis.
  • I am a plein air painter who had the honor of being featured on a PBS Arts America segment in 2015.
  • I created a fantasy book cover for the novel, The Knight Errant Courts Disaster by C.A. Fahmel.
  • I have done many murals as charitable ministry outreach for children’s ministry areas and for the entryway to a grade school.
  • I have a Bachelors of Science in Art from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
  • And, most recently, I have been exploring Animation at Webster University.
  • Interestingly, I also have a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from SIUE and am an Emergency Room Nurse.
